ELMO LIVE IS MOST REALISTIC ELMO EVER
Toy and robotic technology today is just amazing. Fisher-Price has rebuilt Elmo to be the most lifelike animatronic toy, a true “Elmo Live”, not just a giggling, shaking gag, but a sophisticated, articulate,
mechanical doll capable of telling stories and of expressing himself with fluent physical motion. He talks with his hands, his feet, his little bottom, his neck, his mouth, his head... Everything about him is expressive.
The high-tech, but still cuddly and adorable Elmo Live can stand on one foot, crouch, lean forward to whisper and toss his head back for a hearty laugh. He can hold a hand up to his mouth, flap his arms in exaggerated gestures, pop his head back and forth on his neck, sneeze, and lean forward and tell you with total sincerity that he loves you. Elmo clearly enjoys telling his stories and jokes and singing his songs.
Elmo Live comes seated in a chair, but he can sit down and stand up on his own. He has touch-sensitive buttons on his nose, back, foot, and stomach. Each button does something different. He sings, he dances, he tells stories, and sometimes he sneezes. Elmo Live can even tell when he falls off his stool! If he falls over he says, "Uh-oh!
Elmo fell down! Can you help Elmo up?" When you stand him back up, he says, "Thank you. You're Elmo's best friend!"
ELMO LIVE WANTS TO ENTERTAIN
Elmo Live tells one story about meeting a giant and Elmo shakes to show how scared he was. He also leans way back in his chair with his mouth open wide to show how he was trying to see the giant’s face so far away up in the sky. He claps a hand to his mouth to show how surprised he was to see a giant. Finally, gives out a belly-shaking laugh when he sees that the giant is more afraid of him than he was of the giant. Elmo acts out the whole story, doing the voices of all the characters, and providing appropriate sound effects and even a musical score. This is a long way from the old Tickle-Me Elmo toys!
Even though the Elmo Live is recommended for children aged 18 months and up, he's actually best suited for children a little older. This is mostly because of the length of the stories he tells. He’d probably be best appreciated by kids old enough to really listen, and he really seems to be aimed at big kids (and parents!) too. Given Elmo Live's sophisticated ability to match the "real" Elmo’s mannerisms and appearance, this is an easy choice as a keepsake for collectors. In terms of innovation the new Elmo Live! is just as important the original Tickle Me Elmo.
Oh, and the 6 AA batteries required? They're included!
